Troubles in paradise

Blogger has been out of sorts lately and so have Akira and Toro. They are a pair full of contradictions. Akira is more relaxed these days about being near Toro and he has not shown much inclination to chase her about. I thought all was going smoothly only to see today that Toro is trying to just wear her down. Toro has loads of positive cattitude when it comes to harrassing Akira-the-Hun, who is looking and behaving less and less like a Hun everyday. He lets her use the litter, only to lie in wait for her at the door and chasing her full speed across the living room. I think he is acting more and more like a hood everyday.

So it encourage him to play nice, I had tried to put him in his carrier and ignored him for about 10 minutes. When I got him out, he looked contrite enough and would sit calmly by himself. But this does not last long before he gets up to chase her again. I think I now know why his previous owner gave him up and why the female cat in the other household used to have big fights with him. He is just too kepo for words and has ambitions to live in the hood. Hmmm...

  1. oh dear! i can fully empathize with you as it's happening in my household too.

unfortunately, i think little can be done by humans to intervene or threaten (if you 2 dont get along, no dinner for you!).

some cats just want to exert their "i'm the boss around here" attitude, especially to those they think dont think so.

i guess bujang is not a target as he may be more submissive than akira?

  2. i think bujang learnt his lessons well. after the swollen eye incident, he is more proactive and tells toro very loudly and actively not to mess with him. so when toto tries to prevent him from going to the kitchen, he would actually bear down on toto until toro submits or cringes. i let them alone to settle their differences as it has not escalated into full fights - just mock fights.

since he cant bully bujang anymore, i think he has decided to try it with akira who is smaller than he is and a little fearful of him. she always guves him a wide berth although nowadays, she does try to wrestle the toy from him when we are playing.

But you are right lah. there is little i can do except watch that there is no blood or drawn out claws. :))
