The Day After...

Rocket Tanaka getting some rest after 1.5 hours of playing with Megat

Rocket Tanaka had a slight fever yesterday after his vaccination. He is 1.6 kg and the Dr Li said he was a healthy weight. She looked him over and listened to his heart and said "He is OK." When he came home, I put him in his cage so he could get some rest. As he was not running a fever, I let him out later and we saw that he was not his rumbunctious self. He played by himself eventhough Megat called to him and tried to get him to play. He played quite nicely with Megat and then I put him back in again. :)

Megat is quite taken with The Rocket. Actually Megat is the only one that pays 100% attention to him and he would call out to Tanaka if he could not find him. Of course Tanaka would be laying low just so he could ambush Megat but I notice Megat would sometimes pretend not to see him so the little guy would have more fun in the ambush :)

I think Megat simply aodres Tanaka and Tanaka adores him back :) Toro has learnt to stay quite still when being ambushed so Tanaka does not play with him a lot. Toro also had figured out a secret tactic when playing with Tanaka. He would sit quite still but he would wave his tail about and like a flash Rocket Tanaka would be on it. In this way, he would remian unmolested and still get to play in a more restful way.

The 2 boys are used to Tanaka already but I think Megat would miss him most when he leaves us :(

Bujang sleeping off his fever...

Bujang has a slight fever today from his vaccination. His next vaccination would be in 3 years time. I told Dr Li that if she has to choose betwen trimming his nails and vaccinating him, then the vaccination should take priority. Dr Li decided to go for broke. She got her asisstant to help her and while Bujang was hiding his face at my side, she went 'snip, snip, snip'. It went quite swimmingly eventhough Bujang gave some deep warnings! Then he decided that enough was enough and snarled at everyone. Immediately all hands went up and for a few seconds there was silence...
Then Dr Li told her assistant to take the clipper and she held Bujang by his scruff and his hind legs. She lifted him off the table (oof..he is so heavy...) and the asistant very quickly snipped the rest of the nails on his last front paw. Dr Li said ' Well, you are fat so you think we cannot scruff you!' (ohoh!! went my mind) Then when all was done, she patted him and said soothing things and gave him his jab. Bujang did not stir and I quickly bundled him into his carrier.
Dr Li said Bujang was quite fierce but she had had cats in her office who were so fierce, she could barely do the check up. It was true that Bujang would behave very well at the vet as long as no one touches his paws or attempt to cut his nails. Apart from those two things, he could be quite a darling. Well, he also does not like it when vets poke him to get his blood! But that is understandible lah. I also hate it when I have to get a blood test. I think the only one who could sit patiently would be Megat.
Anyway Bujang has a fever and I had to handfeed him his vitamins. He has yet to eat anything today but I think he should be able to eat something later.

  1. Oh no...dear Bujang, still feeling unwell? The vet was there to help you, not to hurt you.

Funny that he has fever and Tanaka was ok.

Sweet sweet Megat, like a doting grandpa teaching the young ones the ropes. I am glad he has found the Amigos to spend the rest of his life with.

Me also no like pokey needles!!!!!!
